About Silver Diner

Robert Giaimo and Ype Von Hengst opened the first Silver Diner in Rockville, Maryland in 1989. Today, the chain is owned and managed by Silver Diner Development, Inc. and consists of more than 15 restaurants in the United States’ mid-Atlantic region, particularly in Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia, with headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.

The Silver Diner restaurants are designed with nostalgia in mind – tabletop jukeboxes, cozy booths, and friendly service – that evokes the golden years of the 1950s onwards. According to its founders, the diners are American family restaurants that combines the benefits of fast-food joints and tablecloth restaurants, thus, the concept.

The menu stays true to the diner concept, too. There are appetizers like avocado toast, vegetarian dishes like the kale and blue cheese salad, and soups and salads. The Chef Ype’s selections are a must-have due to their exquisite flavors; top selections include the Mediterranean lamb meatballs and organic chickpea hummus. The Silver Diner prices are affordable, too, just like in your neighborhood diner.
