About Primanti Bros.

The Primanti Brothers’ sandwiches are its most famous food and we aren’t surprised because these are among the most delicious in the country. These signature sandwiches are made of flavorful grilled meat, melted cheese, and tomato slices with coleslaw and fries between Italian bread slices. These are, in fact, the reason for the chain’s multiple awards including the 2007 James Beard Foundation for America’s Classics.

The chain started with a single shop in Pittsburgh’s Strip District while the original sandwich was developed by Joe Primanti during the Great Depression. The shop served sandwiches to the late night and early morning workers at the produce yards and warehouses. The chain, however, was purchased by Jim Patrinos in 1975; there are several locations in Pennsylvania, South Florida, and West Virginia, among other states.

The sandwiches are great for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as after you are craving for a filling meal after a session of late night drinking. The restaurants are open after nearly all the nearby restaurants are either packed or closed, a convenience for many Americans. The Primanti Bros. prices are reasonable so late-night runs aren’t too hard on the pockets.
