About Shogun

Bruce Kanenobu opened the first Shogun Restaurant in Pasadena in 1980. He was determined to provide his customers with unparalleled teppanyaki grill dining experiences, from the stylish interiors to the showmanship skills of the chefs. Of course, the freshness of the ingredients and the deliciousness of the food are all part of his plan, too.

Today, Kanenobu continues to build on his vision with the succeeding Shogub locations in Southern California, such as in San Marcos and Corona. Think of the restaurants as the quintessential dinner-and-a-show teppanyaki dining experience – master chefs with swordsman-like skills slice, dice and cook the ingredients for entrees on a sizzling grill, much to the delight of the diners.

The menu features three areas, namely, sushi, teppanyaki, and dining with diners usually combining the items in each area for a complete meal. There are appetizers with raw or undercooked seafood, shellfish, and meats; meat dishes like gyoza, yakitori, and chicken karaage; seafood entrées like calamari rings; salads like tofu salad; and noodle and donburi dishes including yakisoba. These are all available at the mid-range Shogun prices.
